St John´s wort (Hypericum perforatum) is also known as Tipton´s weed, rosin rose, goatweed, chase-devil, or Klamath weed. It is a herbaceous perennial species that grows 30 to 60 cm high, with a rhizome and a ramified root. Its stems are reddish and cylindrical and two opposite longitudinal ridges run through them. The leaves are sessile, opposite and their veins have many schizogen secreting glands that can be observed under counter-light. Along the rims of the leaves, some small dark glandular dots can be observed. The inflorescences are small terminal cymes. The flower petals are yellow and they also have secreting glands on their ridges, which can be observed as small dark spots. The fruits are ovoid capsules.
St John’s wort is traditionally used externally, in combination with oils, to treat burns. Internally, it has generally been used for mild states of depression, anxiety, insomnia and nervousness.
Dosage: 3 capsules per day after meals.

Precautions:
Do not exceed the recommended dose.
Do not take during pregnancy and lactation.
Do not take together with antidepressants.
Avoid exposure to the sun while taking St. John’s wort.
