Green Barley Powder 150g
Greens are in fashion, and rightly so. Thanks to its nutritional properties, and the ability to promote digestion and to stimulate body purification, green barley in an essential food in your regular diet.
Barley has been used by humans for thousands of years. The ancient Egyptians, Romans and Vikings used barley, and Columbus took it to America in 1493.
Within its multiple properties, barley, or Hordeum vulgare, has a high chlorophyll content. This is the same chemical substance that makes grass green. As an essential ingredient in photosynthesis, it is the basis of all plant life. Also, chlorophyll has a very similar structure to that of blood haemoglobin. The key ingredients of barley grass are proteins, vitamins and minerals.
The protein in green barley has 18 of the 22 amino acids, including all eight essential amino acids that the body cannot produce by itself. Green barley is, therefore, an excellent source of protein for vegetarians, who often lack them in their diets.
Green barley is also rich in vitamins, with 30 times more vitamin B1 than cow´s milk, as well as vitamin B2, vitamin B6, large amounts of vitamin B12 and abundant vitamin C. Barley grass is also an excellent natural source of minerals, including calcium, copper, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus and potassium. As it also offers a great quantity of folic acid, pantothenic acid, carotenoids (including beta- carotene) and organic sodium, it´s no wonder that it has been labelled as a super-food.
