Essential oil, also used as perfume. Native to the Maluku Islands. Obtained by distilling the unopened flower buds or tree leaves with water or steam. The oil is heavier than water and has a yellow color that turns brown when it comes into contact with air; it has a strong and sweet aroma.
Properties and uses:
Stimulant and pain reliever.
Keeps insects away.
A few drops on cotton will alleviate toothaches, putting it directly on the affected area.
It is considered to be an aphrodisiac, stimulating the mind and memory, and improving breathing. It helps to overcome states of exhaustion, although in excessive doses it can cause numbness.
Internally it is useful for digestive disorders and preventing infectious diseases.
Precautions:
Always dilute well before using. It may cause allergies or irritation.
